“THE ROYAL COLLECTION”
The hero of the story
Self pick of tulips at the Royal Farm… and monoprinting
Sunday the 27 th of April I had an utmost magic day at the greenhouse of the Royal Farm where I was able to pick tulips. You can imagine my joy when I could walk around choosing which flower to pick - the colors and shapes were endless and the stem was so powerful and strong. I ended up with a variety of different tulip types, all equally beautiful.
The smell was beyond heavenly
The taste of the royal farm - it was soooo good!
These tulips were something extraordinary - breathtakingly stunning - so I really wanted to make sure they were immortalized. It was such a special moment printing these beauties and I am so happy I was able to do it in time for my solo exhibition “The Sacred space”. It sure felt like a sacred time picking them.
“The Queen´s flower” is now delivered to my favorite frame shop “Det Gyldne Snitt” - and so is “The King´s flower”, “The Crown Princess’s flower”, “The Crown Prince’s flower”, “The Prince´s flower” and “The Princess´s flower” - the whole Royal Collection
“Every act of creation is first an act of destruction”
According to “The complete language of flowers” by S. Theresa Dietz tulips have the symbolic meaning of declaration of love - and the possible powers are abundance, aphrodisiac, fame, love and luck. Dietz writes furthermore that “(…) In the Middle Ages, Tulipa gesneriana was extremely expensive and considered to be more valuable than jewels”. And best of it all: according to the folklore “(…) Place Tulipa Gesneriana flowers in a vase in the kitchen to attract good and plenty into the home (…)” - or as I would say; how about hanging one of the monoprints from my “Royal Collection” on your kitchen wall? If there is no truth to the folklore you at least have a special piece of art to make your own heart and soul happy…
Love and light, until next time, MC
